The San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) has awarded a consulting engineering team led by Michael Baker International (MBI) a contract for an “Intake Testing Program for a Proposed Camp Pendleton Seawater Desalination Project”. SPI is a sub consultant to MBI, responsible for twelve month on-site operation of the test program including granular media filtration on an open intake source and a reverse osmosis pilot system on a subsurface intake.
The project objectives are to compare source water quality and pretreatment requirements on the open and subsurface intakes. SDCWA envisions a 150 MGD seawater desalination project at Camp Pendleton.
