The West Basin Municipal District is currently in the development stages of a full-scale seawater program. This project is a temporary demonstration-scale seawater desalination facility in Redondo Beach, CA, which will demonstrate the performance of the treatment process previously developed by the District during pilot testing. The demonstration facility will use full-scale components, operating on an open seawater intake.
Capacity: 50,000 gpd
Technology: Microfiltration, Reverse Osmosis
SPI Role:
SPI was the District’s engineer for the pilot testing as well. SPI provided design services for the membrane pretreatment and two-pass seawater RO processes in the Demonstration project.
