SPI Wins Contract for OK Desal Project

SPI Wins Contract for OK Desal Project

August 30, 2013 News

SPI was awarded a contract in collaboration with the Oklahoma City based engineering firm Guernsey to study the feasibility of treating brackish groundwater to provide an additional 3 mgd or more of potable water to the Central Oklahoma Water Resources Authority (COWRA) and their customers. COWRA consists of the municipalities of Mustang, Yukon, Calumet and Okarche and is charged with identifying alternative sources for drinking water for the communities. These municipalities currently purchase water from Oklahoma City. COWRA is interested in building a desalination plant in Canadian County, OK and wants to know the viability of doing such a project. COWRA is a board managed by officials from participating municipalities in Canadian County. Prior to being awarded the project, SPI and Guernsey provided representatives of COWRA with a tour in Arizona of two facilities that have been designed by SPI and have also been supported by SPI over the past 15 years

Guernsey and SPI are currently also working on two other projects in the area for the Central Oklahoma Master Conservancy District (COMCD) and the Foss Reservoir Master Conservancy District, respectively.
