Pilot Studies

SPI has extensive experience in the development and implementation of water and wastewater treatment process pilot studies, from development of the testing protocol, through supervision of operation, data analysis and preparation of the final report. Past pilot study objectives have included evaluation of treatment alternatives, process demonstration and development, qualification testing for membrane procurement, and a variety of research oriented projects.

In many cases, the pilot study provides a basis for the development of design and bidding documents and/or selection of qualified equipment supplier(s). In other cases the pilot tests have been used specifically to prove the overall treatment process.  For many projects, pilot testing minimizes the overall project risk and allows the client to evaluate alternatives and new products that may be suitable for their particular needs.
